The view
Inveruglas is one of the easiest places to understand the northern end of Loch Lomond. The shoreline faces the open water, the islands and the darker mass of the Arrochar Alps, making the loch feel broad rather than enclosed.
The raised timber structure, An Ceann Mòr, gives the view a gentle change of level without turning it into a long walk. It is a particularly good pause on a driving day: the water is close, the mountain outline is clear and the scale arrives quickly.
The deeper story
An Ceann Mòr means “the large headland” and was created as an eight-metre timber viewpoint on the Inveruglas shore. It was designed as part of the Scottish Scenic Routes project, framing Loch Lomond towards the mountains. The lower entry is accessible, while the upper viewing platform is reached by steps.
