Opinion polls are published regularly by the wind lobby to try to persuade the public and its elected representatives that opposition to wind developments comes from a tiny irrational minority which is acting out of self-interest and against the public good.

An overview and critique was published recently by the Scottish Wind Assessment Project (SWAP)

"Views of Scotland" has also made a detailed analysis of the Executive’s flagship survey on public attitudes and a shorter critique in a briefing paper. It has also looked at the affect on rural tourism and jobs of the 26 per cent drop in tourism suggested by the results of a VisitScotland survey in 2002

The statistics in this report are now several years out of date, as are the conclusions of the report itself. New independent research would be welcomed
